25 hours of flight time, 38 hours on the ground...
I just returned from a few days in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was my first time in South America, and I loved it! From the food, to the people, to the atmosphere, Argentina is wonderful.
I am going to apologize now, I had a horrible feeling that I had forgotten something important to me when I left, I did not figure out until the flight from San Juan to Miami that it was my digital camera! I bought a disposable camera in Miami and will post those pictures as soon as I get them developed.
The whole experience was amazing, I flew the 9 hour flight both ways on an American Airlines 777, first class! I have flown first class many times on many airlines, but never on a long international flight...I am still amazed at the luxury. I had a full reclinable seat, my own tv, my own bose headset, bathroom kit, two awesome meals of seafood (fish, scallops, and shrimp) and constant drinks of whatever I wanted. Here is what is funny! When I returned overnight last night it was the same flight crew that took me down!
My vacation was their layover...unbelievable!
I met up with friends from Puerto Rico and an Argentino (they call themselves something different but I forgot) for the first day and all of us (a group of 5) went all over the town to the best shops and restaurants. Then in the evening we went to a comedy show that was presented in Spanish, yes I was the only one not laughing sometimes...oh well. That night we went out and explored the Buenos Aires nightlife...found a pizza joint that was alot of fun and ended up staying there a long time. The next day everyone had thier own things to do, so I went around with my friend Nohelia from Puerto Rico. Since she had been there for almost two weeks, she knew how to use the bus system and "Subte" the subway. Even though it was raining all day we went to the "Obilisco" (like the Washington monument, but in the world's widest avenue). We also went to a large park that is famous in the city and the busiest downtown area where many of the 13 million people in Buenos Aires live. It was a great time!
The exchange rate in Argentina is 3.11 pesos for one dollar. I left with $140 in cash, this paid for a motel, many nice meals, many subways, a taxi ride, a night on the town, a bus ride, street food, and many more things! I still have about 40 pesos left over!!!
I am going to go now and enjoy the beach before starting a four day trip tomorrow. I do a four day trip, then four days in Maryland, then another four day trip...ughh!!
